Spend a little time with Dean Snell and you quickly come to appreciate his loyalty and love for the game of golf. Sure, he’s started a golf ball business and he’s doing it to make a living. But his passion really IS about making golf BETTER … for everyone.
As President of Snell Golf Canada and a life long golfer I’ve seen and heard a lot of viewpoints on various aspects of this great game.
But there is ONE VIEW, often heard that Dean believes is just plain WRONG, the view is that higher handicap players; ladies, men, whoever, SHOULD play a low spin 2 piece ball. The thinking is WHY PAY FOR PERFORMANCE IF YOU AREN’T USING IT?
Well Dean says that’s just the point – you NEED the better performance ESPECIALLY around the greens, because high handicappers MISS more greens. And on CHIPS, tour quality balls like the MTB spin and check better, providing consistency that equates to lower scores. Also tour quality balls PUTT better because they come off the putter face more consistently.
So, who should use a 2 piece, low spin, softer ball?
That’s an interesting question. The reality that many consumers don’t realize is that both type balls fly about the same distance. BUT the 2 piece ball could fit your flight profile a bit better, regardless of your handicap. In other words, many good players can play a 2 piece with good success.
Cost consicious players generally navigate towards a low cost ball. We suggest you try both our Snell balls. You can order a TEST PACK. Just know that Dean Snell developed and priced the My Tour Ball so that it’s affordable to everyone. Both the MTB and the 2 piece GET SUM are made with top of the line materials including a urethane outer mantle.
When you play them both you’ll know which one suits you best. You owe it to yourself to try a better ball and see if it helps you. I guarantee that you won’t remember what you spent on a ball but you will remember your lowest round ever and what a joyous day that was!
Go ahead … Snell one down the middle and roll in that long birdie … have FUN!
